[4] BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION - THEOPHILE RIVETTE
Theophile met his first wife, Emma Rivette, at a Woodsmen's Hall dance in Leonville. Since it was a small community, everyone there wondered where he came from. Nobody knew who he was, and he never discussed his past very much.
In 1900, he is recorded by the census as living with his aunt, Doralise (Rivette) Hargroder. His grandfather, Joseph Rivette, was also living there. At that time, he could read, write and speak English.
There is a rumor that Theophile had a wife before Emma, but no evidence has been found on it.
Theophile suffered a broken hip late in life. After being laid up with that injury for a short time, he came down with pneumonia and died soon thereafter.
